Airport Car Rental Guides

Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) Car Rental Guide

moviepass for travel

Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) is the busiest airport in the world when ranked by passenger traffic. It is located seven miles south of downtown Atlanta.

For such a busy airport, it's remarkably centralized. All passengers are funneled through the same main terminal, regardless of which far-flung concourse at which their plane may have landed. Rental car companies serving the airport are located in a central facility two stops and a five-minute ride from the terminal via ATL's SkyTrain. The facility is located on the other side of I-85 from the airport and is not within walking distance.

Valentine's Day is a Momentous Day for Rental Car Consumers at Tampa International Airport

Tampa Consolidated Rental Facility

Tampa International Airport loves passengers; well, at least the airport authority loves the fee revenue created by passengers. And for those flying into the airport, Valentines Day 2018 is fairly momentous, as individuals renting cars from the airport finally have the rental car facility they've been paying for since a major 2014 fee increase. A frequent headache for travelers to Tampa in the past was the frustration of remembering which 8 of the 15 rental car companies were on-site and which 7 of 15 required a shuttle. As of today, there's no need to break out the emergency aspirin as all rental cars are now in a single facility, at the end of the (SkyConnect) line. And while that process will be less convenient for most and more convenient for others, the process of picking up and returning a car will at least be consistent.

When is a Deal Not a Deal?

Deal or No Deal

Hertz was the only company this year to offer any car rental deals for Cyber Monday. They offered up to 40% off of prepaid rentals through the Hertz brand, and a 25% discount on the Dollar and Thrifty brands which they also own. While up to 40% off sounds like an awesome deal, up to is the operative term hereā€”the actual prices were nothing to write home about.

On the other hand, the 25% off that Dollar and Thrifty offered up was the real deal. As discount brands, Dollar/Thrifty tend to be priced very aggressively to start with. While they do offer coupons that can net you 10-15% off on a regular basis, it is truly rare to find a 25% discount code, so those who got in on the this got quite a good deal.

Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) Car Rental Guide

Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL)

Flying to Fort Lauderdale? South Florida is a great place to rent a convertible or a car that might not be available in much of the United States year round. The city is within an easy drive (well outside of rush hour) of many other coastal cities including Miami and West Palm Beach. Like the rest of South Florida, there are many places to see and be seen in a stylish car -- we ended up driving a 275 HP Chevrolet Camaro Convertible RS from Sixt after our originally-assigned 455 HP SS Convertible had too much pre-existing damage.

Arriving at Fort Lauderdale, a rental car customer might be surprised to learn that the airport has four distinct terminals yet only one consolidated rental car facility (CONRAC).
