Earlier this year, we reviewed Silvercar, an Audi-supported (soon to be Audi-owned) rental car company that only rents Audi A4s at a limited number of locations (15 at the time of this writing). We enjoyed the experience of driving the entry-level luxury Audi A4 but didn't enjoy some of the interactions at the rental car site.
The company is running a "Stage the Perfect Getaway this Summer" promotion where one entrant will win a vacation valued up to $10,000, including coach airfare, hotel, and a $1,000 prepaid AmEx card. The promotion is exceptionally straightforward; a participant in 47 of the Continental United States or Washington, D.C. (Rhode Island is excluded) can enter once between now and 11:59 p.m. on September 4 (Labor Day). Silvercar renters are automatically entered but it's also possible to register without renting through the promotion's website or by calling Silvercar's call center. The winner will be drawn at some time around September 27, 2017.
We know what you're thinking -- "isn't stage the perfect getaway this summer a bad tagline when the prize won't be awarded until this fall?". It sure is, but someone -- hopefully an AutoSlash user -- will win a really nice vacation package.
Our Silvercar rental visited Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area.
What were some of the downfalls we found in our Silvercar experience? Well, the company won't let AutoSlash book directly and find discounts for you! Unless there's a special offer for a first-time or repeat user, the entry-level luxury car comes with a luxury price; $69 plus tax in Las Vegas meant the car was $88.67 per day. And Silvercar is the only rental company where any member of the AutoSlash team has been asked to leave keys in an unlocked car, in an unsecured parking lot, and enter an Uber that we hadn't paged for a ride back to the airport!
