Turo $25 off with Apple Pay

Our blog has discussed peer-to-peer car sharing company Turo in the past. Although AutoSlash can only help with booking "traditional" rental cars, we recognize (and promote) all forms of cost-effective transportation! For instance, we had mentioned that Turo is great when local rental car companies are sold out, those sites are closed, one lives in a community without a rental car company, or when looking for a hard-to-rent vehicle (lots of Teslas listed on Turo). And in addition to referral discounts for new users, there is a limited time offer for a $25 credit when using Apple Pay.

The promotion isn't available on Turo's homepage -- it's listed when downloading the Apple Pay app from iTunes. The discount is one-time only but for already approved Turo and Apple Pay users, a quick $25 saved on a needed vehicle a pretty easy sell!

We wish every company would offer $25 off just for trying out a payment method!

The one major downfall of Apple Pay? It is firmly part of the Apple ecosystem and requires running iOS 10 or higher on an iPad, iPhone, or iPod Touch. And Apple Pay has pushed out a number of promotions recently -- the AutoSlash team members with non-iOS phones are really missing out on many promotions at the moment, including one valid for five distinct purchase made using an American Express enrolled in Apple Pay.

Maybe enough promotions will nudge the non-iOS contingent over to Apple.

The Terms and Conditions state that the offer is valid for trips booked before midnight PDT on April 18, 2018. As midnight itself is an ambiguous term that can mean either the beginning or end of a day, we would book no later than 11:59 p.m. PDT on April 17, 2018. There's a reason insurance contracts state either 11:59 p.m. or 12:01 a.m.!

My hometown still doesn't have a rental car company but one can rent a vehicle from multiple Turo suppliers there; an offer for a $25 discount simply by using Apple Pay could come in handy. And given the choice between "no rental cars available" or using Turo with an additional $25 discount, I'm sure multiple family members will be scoping out the $31/day Nissan available for instant booking near our childhood home!
